As was previously mentioned in our Press Release dated January 19, 2023, Responsible Preservation Inc. (“RPI”) was granted a Pennsylvania Growing Greener Watershed Protection Design Grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) for the design of the Wissahickon Creek stream restoration project.
This Growing Greener Grant will fund the design development and engineering project for the restoration and stabilization of the 6,000-foot stretch of the Wissahickon Creek between Northwestern Avenue and Germantown Avenues.
RPI has been busy preparing the necessary documents and forms required by the DEP to enable it to issue the Grant Agreement documents to RPI. These documents were submitted to DEP on February 6, 2023, and we are awaiting the issuance of the Grant Agreement for execution. This will enable RPI to contract with its consultants and commence the design of a corrected channel for the Wissahickon Creek..
In the meantime, through Joe Bellini, PE and Tom Saldutti, PE of Aterra Solutions, RPI has contacted the Philadelphia Water Department (“PWD”) to see how we could best engage with PWD through the design process. We are hoping that PWD might be able to provide updated survey information of the existing PWD infrastructure located within the project area.
We are looking forward to moving this project forward to better improve the Wissahickon Creek and the surrounding areas.
